Description

Mini Vent progress..

This is pretty much how I feel whenever I still hear someone say, "Well why don't you try your own original style?"/ "Take a break from bases and try drawing yourself"/"You should draw your own style more"..

It's like you guys don't even bother reading or noticing the differences between my actual work and when I doll; I put it in the description, I put it in its own seperate gallery folder, I told you guys WHY I don't draw my original style as often; what more do you guys want from me?!

Even last week, I spent literally 2 days doing nothing BUT my own original style... now that I am running out of time to focus on that again, and I go back to using bases to get submissions done faster so I can spend more time on school work, now after a whole week of original art, I am still getting people saying "why don't you draw your own style?".. and it's not just one person, I hear it very often. And yes, it upsets me. Makes my hours and hours of hard work feel like it goes unnoticed and pointless.

And even if I DIDN"T draw an original style, I am sick and tired of people bad mouthing base artists.
If it wasn't for making bases and dolling on bases, I never would've even GOTTEN my own original art style... Using them allowed me to study the anatomy and learn how to draw on my own.. and just because I can now doesn't mean I'm not going to stop using bases.
It's fun, show accurate, and just as good art as any on here if you actually put time, effort and love into your work!
I spend hours on my base work, just as I would on my original work; only difference is, I don't draw the body: BIG FUCKING WHOOP!
If you don't like bases, then you don't have to use them! But don't go around complaining about others using them, because they aren't YOU, and do things the way it makes them happy! And you have no right to try and take that happiness away.

So yes, I have my own original style, YES, I use bases, and YES I will continue to USE bases because I don't have TIME to sit on my ass and sketch on my tiny little touchpad laptop and draw from scratch every friggin second of my life. And YES, if you intend to remain my watcher, you are going to have to deal with it.. because it's what I love doing. And I am proud of every little thing I submit.. base or not.

Please learn to respect that; and not just for me, for EVERY SINGLE USER; bases or not.

(In case no one figured it out, YES, I took time out of my day when I SHOULD'VE been reading for my online discussion class, and drew this in my own original art style..)

Oof.
People who knock base artists piss me off.
I applaud the use of bases because it keeps with consistency, it helps with learning, they can act as pose reference and for god sakes a base doesn't automatically mean your art isn't as good as fully hand drawn. Base artists still need to take time and effort to draw and edit the bases to appear how they want them to. They create hair from scratch and the amount of time put into them can be just as much as a hand drawn. Honestly.
